Chinese Medicine: As Autumn arrives in Sydney we begin to come under the influence of the Metal element, and the energy of the body starts its turn inward. In Chinese Medicine, Metal governs the Lungs and is responsible for letting go; the exhale, the release, the capacity to trust what comes next. Pisces (Water) is nourished by Metal in the five-element cycle: what the Lungs release, the Kidneys receive. In the year of the Fire Horse year where action is at the forefront, this new moon sitting at the autumn equinox is the first invitation to soften. Before the horse can truly run, it must know how to breathe.

Birth Work: One of the most surrender-oriented moons of the entire cycle. For women in late pregnancy, this is an invitation to let go of the birth they are longing for and trust in the birth that is coming. Surrender is not weakness, in Chinese Medicine it is the Water element doing its deepest work, softening the edges so that life can flow through.
